The sheer nature of events is to create memories and cement lasting impressions that can generate those “Wow” moments. Event rental businesses and their clients — from brides and planners to caterers and other specialized event operations that rent equipment — know that and rely on a lot of human-to-human collaboration to pull these events off. Technological advancements have changed the dynamics of that collaboration and the entire process. Now, with the emergence of artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities, tech-savvy customers are expecting their event rental business partners to keep pace.
What technologies are your clients incorporating in their operation, what are they looking for from their event rental partners and what do they see the future holding on the tech front?
Rental Management asked Ivy Robinson, owner and “design and vibe guru” of Ivy Robinson Events in Charlotte, N.C.; James Auerbach, chief revenue officer, Salem Sports Events, Winston-Salem, N.C.; Kristi DePew, CWEP, co-owner, Eclipse Event Co., Austin, Texas; and Cassie Brown, CSEP, chief experience officer, TCG Events, Charlotte, N.C. See what they had to say.
For instance, Cassie informed Rental Management that it would be helpful if businesses could keep track of their inventory in real-time.
Brown has searched many event rental businesses’ websites and found the perfect item but then could not see how much of that inventory was available for her event.
“Maybe I need 500, but I have to wait maybe until the weekend or the next day for somebody to tell me that they really have only 200. It would be incredible if I could log into a client portal and see how many were in stock on that particular day when I need it,” she says.
